L&T’s Power Transmission and Distribution business vertical is a leading EPC player in the field of power transmission and distribution and solar energy. It offers integrated solutions and end-to-end services ranging from design, manufacture, supply, installation and commissioning of transmission lines, substations, underground cable networks (both power & control), distribution networks, infrastructure electric projects and solar PV plants, both in India and overseas. In the markets of the Middle East (UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain), Africa (Algeria, Kenya, Ethiopia, Malawi) and the ASEAN (Malaysia and Thailand), the business offers complete solutions, including high voltage substations, power transmission lines, extra-high-voltage cabling and electrical, instrumentation and control systems for infrastructure projects, such as airports and the oil & gas industry.


Tower-manufacturing facilities (Capacity: 1,00,000 mtpa) have been set up at Puducherry, Pithampur and Kancheepuram. L&T’s Transmission Line Testing & Research Station is one of the largest tower-testing stations in India.

  • The Middle East business commissioned 18 substations, 2 cable projects and an overhead transmission line
  • The Transmission Line Tower Research Station at Kancheepuram achieved a major milestone by successfully testing the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC)’s tower measuring 101.3m high – the tallest tower ever to be tested.

Renewable Energy

With a track record that includes the largest solar plants in the country, L&T has proven EPC capabilities in offering economically viable and technically superior solutions for: Utility-scale Photovoltaic /concentrated solar power plants, rooftop, micro-grids and smart grids, integrated security solutions and wind power solutions. The Solar business secured orders amounting to more than 200 MWp getting repeat orders from its key clientele.

Through L&T Oman LLC and L&T Saudi LLC, extra-high voltage and primary substations and overhead transmission lines were erected on EPC basis. Both the companies have commissioned several grid stations and primary substations across the Sultanate of Oman and Saudi Arabia.
